A time consuming transition...

Dear ASJiNE readers,

After years and years of wanting to trade my oh-so-last-season PC for a fresh, sleek Mac, I finally took the plunge and entered too-cool-for-school territory with this (pointing at the screen in front of me), my brand-new, slim as a size-2 MacBook Pro.

Though feminine in shape, I think I'll call him Voltaire, the name to which I was going to assign Montesquieu's future brother - "Volly" for short, natch - until Son Number One made it crystal clear with a double paw-stomp and "accidental" carpet tinkle it was not in my best interest to again raise the issue of expanding our nuclear family.

Point taken, little one.

Just like Mommy wouldn't complain if God gave her 4F at Bergdorf's instead of children or the new, has-its-own-zip-code shoe salon at Saks instead of a loving husband, I'm perfectly content to get a Mac in place of an additional pup.

But unlike a fabu new Akris dress* or pair of Atwood platform pumps, acquiring and integrating this new bit of technology into my everyday life is no easy task.

So, over the next couple of days, while my much more computer-knowledgeable colleagues help me through what will likely be a very time consuming transferring this and learning how to do that transition, please be patient.

as you were,
Johanna

*snaps to Hot Redhead Lawyer for pointing this deliciousness out to me earlier today

tinkling on the carpet was always a surefire way to manipulate you when we lived together!

welcome to the cool club, miss mac

Congrats. I love my macbook, although I have to admit I'm still learning how to use it. You should definitely download the package tracking widget to your dashboard, so you can keep track of all of your online purchases.

Aaaahhh! I can't connect to the Internet at home! I never realized how completely dependent I am on having 24/7 access until now.

I'm writing this from the business center in my building -- unfortunately, we're not allowed to save anything to the Desktop, or else I'd write from here. I know, I know, I'm obsessed.

I apologize in advance for the many promises I'm going to have to break this week, including a timely sequel to this morning's post and perhaps even the "ze best of ze best" follow-up to yesterday's post.

(sniff sniff)

Can I haz Apple Geniuz?

have a good night,
J

p.s. if you don't already have it on your iPod, please to download the classic "Black Betty" by Ram Jam. I'm totally going through a "Blow" phase after last night's double feature on Bravo. Penny Cruz's life? Yes, please.

Holy wow, have you seen the new pics of Katie Holmes from the Moving Image Salute in NY? She is your celebri-doppelganger. In terms of style, I mean. So elegant yet so sexy. Those eyes...those shoulders...

I made the move back in February and don't know how I ever lived without my svelte Mac. Congrats!

If you can't connect to your wireless at home, it might have something to do you with your security settings, somthing about the encryption but I can't exactly remember. I would check it now, but I am on a business trip and am stuck traveling with a work issued laptop. I miss my macbook.

First comes the Mac then comes the hipster boyfriend then comes registering yourself as a Democrat. You're really not that far off from everything you despise, darling ;-P

I think this is a bunk excuse. I think you're just getting ass and choosing that over your blog. For shame, Jo.

Hooray! Congrats on getting a Mac! They are, by far, the best things. Ever.

Let me know if you are selling your old monitor. I'm in the market for one that doesn't take up the bulk of my dining room table, as my current one does.

A Mac? You should buy a pair of Birkenstocks and a Hilary '08 t-shirt while you're at it.

I would sooner eat a King-Size candy bar than buy - or wear - a Hillary t-shirt.

Wouldn't go well with my "Cheney in '08" hoodie, now would it?

mwah,
J

p.s. and no, that is NOT the three pints of Heffeweissen talking...
