06 March 2007

The kids just keep getting older.

Monte wanted me to wish a "Happy Birthday" today to all the March 6th babies out there. He even extended one to his mother, with whom he is currently cross because she refuses to get his sock-bunny-turned-tiny-ball-of-string out from under the bed again.

To my preggers sis, my cousins L and G, my girl S, and anyone else who's diluting my special day with their own celebration, may you all get a peanut butter chocolate cake with carob frosting and the chance to don a feather-trimmed be-starred party hat.

You'll have to excuse me now, I have a damp ball of string to liberate...

(note: unless you want to see what sun damage brought on by years of precise 26-minute poolside flips looks like up close, I wouldn't click on the above photo)

Happy Birthday to the girl I'd marry in a heartbeat if she'd have me...

Oh, my fiancee knows about my love for you. You know that whole, "I'd leave you for this celebrity" game couples always play? Well, my pick is a celebrity to-be. Always has been.

Come to NYC, and it'll happen sooner, doll. And you know what that means, right? The sooner you become famous, the sooner you can have Prada dresses without selling your soul!

27 is a great year, but then, I'm sure every year for you is a great one. Make sure to get a birthday kiss from him. It's the least he could do for you.

love ya, girl.

Happy birthday to the best dressed bitch in the District!

And can I just please say again how perfect your dog is? I don't know how you bring yourself to leave him in the mornings!

I *did* click on the photo, and you're even more freckle-licious than I remember!

Happy 27th, dah-ling. I know you'll be in a cocktail dress sipping some sort of bubbly drink in a crystal flute at an old-man bar tonight...am I close?

love you to pieces!

kiss,
me

super cute pooch. However, where dod you get those delightful gold bangles? I have been on the prowl for some and you know how it is when you set your mind to finding something...

oops meant that to be "did" not "dod" ... ahhh the perils of trying to read non work-related websites on company time.

Thank you for pooch comment. I'll pass it on once I get home tonight. As for my gold bangles (and the blue spinel ring), they are traditional Indonesian bangles, all of which came direct from Sumatra from my Mother. As gold bangles go, they're my favorite, because the detailed engraving on each one is similar but not identical. Plus, they're really lightweight and malleable (23K gold is almost *too* malleable, though, so watch out when you're engaging in athletic pursuits).

I received a bangle every year from the time I was 11, but my parents insist I not wear them all while I live in the crime capital of the country. You see, I don't ever take them off. A couple of them I couldn't take off even if I - or airport security or my fellow GRE test-takers - wanted me to!

If you're looking to invest in real gold bangles like mine, I'd take a trip to NYC and go to the gold district. You'll get ripped off here, because the supply is so low, but there, you should be able to find authentic Indonesian/Thai/Indian/Burmese bangles.

hope this helps!

p.s. don't worry about the typos, I know what you mean...

Happy birthday, gorgeous!

I hope you take a day off of the marathon training AND the diet and just revel in the fun that is being you.

Normally I hate girls with everything, but in this case, I'm just so happy to have you in my life.

love you,
E

Welcome to the late 20s! I'd give you a double-cheek kiss just like the Euro-trash used to do outside of Basha if I weren't a plane ride away...

By the way, you and Monte should have your own sitcom. Who would be his voice-over? Kelsey Grammar, maybe? Alan Rickman?

I expect birthday photos tomorrow...

look at you, sexy birthday girl, in that picture! I think you look beautiful!

How is it that your single again?

Oh, right...

Anyway, live it up and write about it tomorrow morning. I agree with your other readers -- photographic evidence of tonight's debauchery!

I know, I know, I'm the last of your friends to wish you a happy birthday today, but just because I'm late doesn't mean it means any less.

And I clicked on your photo as well, and you look just as stunning wayupclose as you do from across a table.

To my beautiful, smarter than just about anyone I know, for-sure funnier than anyone I know, long-time friend: happy 27th.

I don't know you but I love the blog *and* your writing style. Keep up the fabulous work, birthday girl!

f**k him. no one worth a sh*t makes you cry on your birthday.

Dry your eyes, run your 5 miles, and vamp up that cat-eye for your night out on the town.

I love you.

Happy 27th, gorgeous one!

At first I was worried, because I'm so far away from DC, but then I realized you had Monte there to give you plenty of birthday kisses :-)

You're gonna make it big one day, JC...I can feel it!!
