I'm seriously contemplating a change in cut after seeing "Make Me a Super Model" contestant Holly Kiser's edgy, tousled pixie:
Love the profile but not so sure about those femchops...
That sweet little swirl up front is so lovely to look at, but hmm...seems like a lot of product and just so placement might be involved Well, at least I already have one of the four fronts covered
For those of you familiar with short hair and the styling limitations thereof, do you think it's possible to attain this look without giving up asymmetric bangs, or will I need to undergo more drastic scissor surgery?
I'd like to know your opinions before my next trim on Friday, if possible.
k'thanks,
Johanna

Holly's hair - the only redeeming thing about that show

I dont see how that look is possible without A LOT of product, which makes it a no no in my book. That aside I dont like it as much as your current style anyway. Its Elvis gone very very wrong.
I think you'd definitely have to take some length off the front. Go for it, it's a hot cut!
I think it's possible.... I think you'd have to push the swirl to the opposite side of where your current bangs hang.
step away from the scissors. now.
I've had this EXACT cut before and it takes much more time and product that I was willing to give to it. Also, if you have thin flat hair (like me) it needs constant touch ups throughout the day. You could rock it, but I think the length you have now is ideal for your face.
I love this, but your cut as it is suits you perfectly.
is she naked in that last photo?
That show is so awful. Holly is the only one who I can actually tolerate. Her hair is incredible. Do it!
Regarding the femchops: I think they're necessary for this particular cut. They provide a frame for the face, accentuating the cheekbones and grounding the swirl. I think without the little sideburns, the cut would look like the bangs were trying to fly off of her head! It's all about the scale and proportion.
I haaaaaate sideburns on women.
I covet Holly's hair. Were mine not curly and prone to frizz I'd be at Trim right this second asking for the very same style. Alas, short hair makes me look like a cat is sitting on my head. Judging from your photo, it looks like you could handle it though, so I say do it, so that I can live vicariously...
I love your cut the way it is! Love the sideswept bangs. Don't change
I think your bangs are what pulls your cut together. Losing the bangs in favor of more deliberately styled hair in the front would not do you justice, and would also be a pain to keep in the right formation(as you and other commenters have mentioned). But, as with everything, you don't really know how it will look until unless you try it...
I don't think your face is thin or defined enough to pull this off. Keep the bangs as anon 1:15 advised.
I have had this cut and OMG the maintenance. My hair holds curl but is basically straight and my face is not very defined (no chiseled cheekbones here), so I spent approximately 8 months looking like my brother.
I think it works if: 1. you have time and patience with products 2. you have a very girly face, long eyelashes help, and 3. you don't mind looking like your brother (or my brother) on the days you don't feel like doing it.
If you think you can rock it, go for it.
just shave it all off already
so I found this while looking for pictures of Holly to bring to my hairdresser!!! I've been keeping my hair long for the past two years (midlife crisis thing I guess) but one look at Holly's and I've just been dying to get to the hairdresser. I usually have a short boyish style and I don't know what all the talk about maintance is about. I have super fine hair - wash it - let it dry throw some pommade in it and your good to go! the longish bang thing - on days you don't feel like dealing with them just brush them to the side (come to think of it when I had short hair I didn't even use a brush! towel dry and tousle - boy know I really want to get a cut!) I say go for it - it's only hair!
I absolutely love Holly's hair. I just got mine cut short like that. I just am not sure what kind of products she uses on her hair. My hair is really thick and I havn't been able to find a product so that it hangs right. What products would I use to get it to look like the other pictures of Holly where she just has her bang down? I would really appreciate the help.
