If it's the only McQueen I ever own, I'll still die happy

As you well know, I don't make a habit of recommending eyeliners, bronzers and other beauty enhancers on ASJiNE, in part because I myself am not a rabid consumer of such items but also because I believe makeup, more so than clothing, is a personal decision over which an outsider who presumably has a different skintype, different set of facial features and a different overall preferred "look" should have minimal influence.

That being said, I couldn't keep mum much longer on just how in love I am with my new Alexander McQueen for M·A·C LipGlass in "Nothingless." Without hesitation, I can say this is far and away the best clear lip gloss I have ever tried.

It's sparkle-free, it sticks hard to your lips (no gooey-ing around), it's perfectly clear, which lends itself as both a clean base-shine (my preference) or as an added "wet" dimension when placed atop an existing color (as the designer opted for during his runway show), and best of all, unlike the limited-edition-ness of it, this gloss lasts -- like, really, really lasts.

And at only $14, it's probably the only chance many of us will ever get to experience the loveliness of Mssr. McQueen.

what, ten months of blogging and still no sugar daddy to buy you mcQueen? poor baby. maybe you're nowhere near as "grand" in person as you seem online...

not impressed- did you have to step out of third period english to post this petty comment, or did you manage to get access to a computer during study hall?

besides, haven't you heard? sugar daddies are hard to come by these days.

I'll have to check that out... I'm a lip gloss addict. Have you tried DuWop Lip Venom? It's my favorite. (Not the 2nd Sin, the original)

Where did you get the lipgloss from? Is it an online purchase?

Maxie-

I received Lip Venom as a gift, and I liked the look (and taste!) of it, but number one, I already have pretty full lips, so an enhancer almost looks silly on me. Second, I found it to be really gooey. When I say the LipGlass sticks hard to your mouth, I mean it. It's almost like superglue, it's so strong.

Anonymous-

I got mine at nordstrom.com, but I'm sure you can stop by any Nordstrom location or MAC boutique and they'll have it. Go quickly before they swipe it away!

best,
J

Johanna, how does it compare to MAC's regular clear Lipglass?

my opinion is that 'not impressed' just likes the sounds of her voice. if she really had a bone to pick with Jo, she would've picked it already.

I use their clear lipglass and love it, but this one is calling my name.

Just got an email...FYI - free shipping at MAC until the 27th!

maybe the bone I have to pick with Miss Johanna isn't my bone but someone else's. someone too nice to confront her and tell her exactly what kind of awful human being she really is.

So NotImpressed, you're saying you're someone's toady. Their underling. Their lapdog.

Standing up for your allegedly wronged master on a blog no less.

Color me impressed.

Well, 'not impressed,' why don't you say what you have to say and get it over with. What did she do? 'Steal' your friend's man or something? Put it out there and we can all judge whether we give two shits or actually don't really care about your sister-solidarity shtick and would just like to get on with the DC style we come to this blog for...

Anonymous said...

Anon 4:35--your comment is pretty funny given that there are any number of great protectors who attempt to shield the editor of this blog from any and all verbal assaults. And I'm starting to think that maybe Not Impressed knows something perhaps only a few others really know...

Still wondering how we got from lip gloss to this shit?

Oh right, she was totally inviting hatred by recommending neutral lip gloss.

Piss off, the lot of you.

(by "the lot of you" I mean "not impressed," natch)

Look at what I missed by logging in this late in the day!

Even if J is some sort of man stealing harpie, at least she can write and dress really well. If I had a wife, that's exactly what I'd look for in a mistress ;-)

Considering I still think about having a mistress is probably why I'm still 34 and single, but that's neither here nor there.

To put this thread back on track, that lip stuff looks nice. Maybe we could see a picture of it on you?

I don't think not impressed needs to say it. I think it's obvious. and since Johanna isn't sticking up for herself against the implied allegations, I think we can assume she's guilty. she seems the type.

Aside from her actual friends, who really cares? I think most of the people that frequent this site are here for the same reason I am -- because it's a well written style blog and that's what I want to read when work becomes a little too tedious. Can people just start ignoring the ridiculous trolling comments? That's what I'll be doing -- Johanna seems completely capable of sticking up for herself.

Annnnd...back on topic. This gloss sounds promising -- I think I'll be ordering it!

Seems like 'not impressed' has a bigger problem then her supposed friend. Stop the blog war crap. It is so 3rd grade. If your friend (or you) have a problem with Johanna then hash them out in real life not on a fashion blog.

Johanna has an interesting fashion POV. No I don't like all of her choices, because let's face it we aren't all Johanna's build. Johanna spends a lot of time reading and analyzing fashion trends. I come here to get the Reader's Digest version on fashion.

I am not a Johanna groupie who thinks she can't make a fashion mistake, but I did want to give her a shout out for turning me back on to flirty little date dresses. My dates have been all gushing over how cute they look.

I am going wander over to the Mac store in Georgetown and check this out.

I have been faithfully using Benefit's Big Magic gloss for the last two years. It's a very flattering dusty rose color, which also looks pretty with Benefit's Benetint layered underneath.

How is it different than regular lipglass?

There is nothing I like more in the fashion world than the words "private sale" and "limited edition". That being said, I haven't regretted my purchase of the limited edition Henri Bendel lipglass and lipstick yet. The color is peachy, adorable and covered in the signature Henri Bendel striped packaging. I think the colors are called "Oh Henri" and "Bendel Girl".

because I'm in a rush, I just want to say that I should've prefaced this post with the admission that I've never tried the Mac LipGlass before, so perhaps this McQueen version isn't as groundbreaking for some of you as it was for me and my super sticky, sparkly Dior Addict Ultra Gloss.

I know I said this particular one was sparkle-free, but now that I'm looking closely at the tube, it does seem to shimmer a bit. On your lips though, you can barely see it. Not like in my Dior, where the flecks of glitter are the size of my Lancome Sun Goddess bronzer compact.

There's also a lemon-vanilla scent/flavor to this one -- does the clear LipGlass have that as well?

See, I told you I'm no beauty product pro :-(

best,
J

MAC lipglass is the best. And when Alexander McQueen puts his little name on the side of the bottle, even better!

I originally started reading this blog because I was so impressed by the writing and how entertaining Johanna could make what are normally, to me, boring subjects. Now I admit I read for that but also the catfights that ensue in the comments section. This is true entertainment!

This one's a no-brainer. I love MAC Lip Glass and I love Alexander McQueen. Just ordered it in both colors. Thanks for the post.

Most readers have never met Johanna and have no desire to do so. We just read this blog either for the clever writing or the fashion perspective.

Who Johanna really is doesn't matter. Great person? Awful human being? It could be either. We don't care. We're not Johanna fans. We're fans of this blog.

If she actually has a boyfriend or a sugar daddy, she wouldn't admit it. It would ruin the blog. Since I have a sugar daddy? Since "you" don't? Yuck.

The real Johanna is just as anonymous as anyone here. If you're going to comment as anonymous, then she has that right too. If she writes negative things on not impressed's blog, I don't care. If you have an issue for the real Johanna, be an adult and deal with it there. If you have an issue that pertains to the writing or the fashion, comment here. .

Bought it after work today, wore it out tonight and got THREE compliments from other women on my fabulously glossed lips. She may be "an awful human being" but Jo certainly does give great advice.

Thanks!
