My new favorite kind of "color" punch

Though I often promote the punch-of-color in a neutrally monochromatic ensemble, I must admit, I rarely if ever practice it.

Until recently.

Inspired by my new favorite pair of satin knotted-just-above-the-peep peep toes - and admittedly, the never ending stream of on-the-street compliments they elicit - I've been punching up my all-black outfits every chance I get with a color most probably wouldn't consider a color at all -- gunmetal.

Not only is gunmetal a punch for all seasons but it's also an extremely versatile punch in that, aside from metallics, it complements just about every single color in your closet.

To help you get your gunmetal on, I've assembled a variety of accessories and wardrobe components at both the lower and higher price-points that'll have your index finger itching for the "add-to-basket" button:

Corinne weave belt by Alexis Bittar ($165 at revolveclothing.com)
Black diamond cocktail ring by Kenneth Jay Lane ($75 at shopbop.com)
Treccia bag by Tod’s ($1,490 at eluxury.com)*
Textured satin clutch by Franchi ($108.95 at zappos.com) Skinny jean by Cheap Monday ($65 at ronherman.com)
Becca boatneck dress by Theory ($275 at saks.com)*
Cadenza square-neck blouse by Nanette Lepore ($210 at shopdollyrocker.com)
Gathered ballet-neck top by White + Warren ($99 at nordstrom.com)
Volterra leather bomber by S.W.O.R.D. ($656 at shopbop.com)
Sally t-strap peeptoe by French Connection ($136.76 at zappos.com)
Kilty ballet flat by Steve Madden ($59.90 at stevemadden.com)

OMG LOVE the bomber! What I don't love, however, is that price. Yikes!

Hmmm...coat or rent? coat or rent?

The jacket is nice but wow, that Tod's bag has my mouth watering. You're so right about gunmetal - very sophisticated, very versatile.

Any recs for cheaper versions of the handbag?

how about a picture of your gunmetal peeptoes that elicit a never ending stream of compliments? i almost hate to admit that many of my recent shoe purchases have been b/c of your recommendation!

The skinny gray jeans are totes Posh at the kids' soccer game. Very nice.

shoegirl-

head over to June 23rd's "I fell in love last night..." post -- the last picture has a view of them!

K-
Exactly! Except hers would be about 10 times more expensive (and skinnier).

Love the color and I like it as an every season accent. But that dress seems most definitely a maternity dress. I know they don't say it is, but as someone who has been enceinte four times, believe me everyone will think you're expecting if you wear it...

No, no, you're like SO right-on:

True, this is a difficult dress to pull off, but if worn on the right figure (i.e. thin legs, thin arms, thin neck, thin EVERYTHING that isn't covered up), it could be done. While I think that model is a more than a shade underweight, she proves my point -- you don't think she looks preggers, do you?

best,
J

Oh my god, that Treccia bag by Tod's is DIVINE (as is your blog, by the way).

Actually I do think she looks pregnant in this pic--and I didn't even notice how thin she was. I think if the average thin woman wore this, everyone would be looking for her incipient, or obvious bump.

Wish I'd had that style for work when I was expecting. Perhaps you should do posts on maternity style?
