Another of my favorite rosette-adorned dresses bites the dust at the hands of a C-list celebrity, reminding me once again of the sad reality that even actresses who haven't worked in years can still afford clothes I can't.

I don't think I ever knew her real name. I just thought of her as that kooky chick who was married to the guy who used to be on Chicago Hope and whose father was played by that guy who used to be on LA Law.
Uh, someone should've told Dharma that forcing a preggers belly underneath a waist-cinch is neither flattering nor comfortable.
And ScarJo called, she wants her hairstyle back.
Shouldn't there be a law against Scientologists having children? Then again, raising your kids to believe in aliens is about as absurd (in the abstract) as raising them to believe in some of the events in the Bible.
I wonder if instead of playhouses they have play spaceships. Just a thought.
good call on the necklace. with that big rosette RIGHT THERE on her shoulder, it makes no sense to wear a necklace, especially one that big. I swear, some of these Hollywood types have no common sense.
why was she wearing a dress that fancy at a car dealership, anyway?
I've never understood why you like those rosettes. I think they look terrible and they ruin the clean lines of the dresses.
Lovely color though. It would have looked great on her 10 years ago, especially with a tan.

Well, I like the rosettes for a number of reasons. I like the feminity of them. I think when done tastefully and artfully - like on this dress and hundreds at this year's Fashion Week (the trend was named one of Anna Wintour's favorite last Fall) - it can transform a great dress into a great, unique dress.
I'm not a big fan of busy dresses (e.g. heavy beading, multi-colored, cutouts, etc.) but a detail like this is one part of the dress is a nice, ultra-feminine surprise.
There's no need to be so harsh. It hardly looks "terrible."
I so agree with you, babe. Pay no mind to whoever doubts the sexiness of rosettes. They don't at all "ruin" the lines of a dress. They don't "ruin" anything. And it's not just because they're "in" right now (though they clearly are if you look at any fashion magazine or any photo from any country's fashion week), it's because one of the things women love most is to feel grown up and like a little girl in the same dress. Rosettes allow for that. They're very ladylike and very prim, to use a term I know you're fond of, when applied sparingly.
Chin up, pretty much everyone else who knows anything about fashion and who has an ounce of imagination in their style agrees with you on this.
That pink dress you posted a couple of times (with the flowers on the sleeves) was extraordinarily lovely! I like the flower appliques when the rest of the dress is completely plain.
You have to be in the mood for them, but when you are, they're divine!
I beg your pardon. Terrible was the wrong word to use. That came across as far stronger than I intended.
My fault for trying to do several things at once.
Contritely,

Ladies, just wait until you outweigh your man (much like the editrix once did her *older* brother) and you'll be grappling for rosettes and chunky jewels to detract attention from your expanding waistline and cankles.
