The spring-is-on-its-way coat

With the official start of spring less than a month away, the annual assessment of whether your mid-weight wardrobe components are in good enough condition to bridge this year's high-40s to mid-60s winter-to-spring transition must now commence.

We start with the most critical item -- the overcoat.

The transitional overcoat is typically worn four months out of the year in DC - September, October, March and April - and is made of a not-too-thick-not-too-thin material like twill, linen, poplin, corduroy, canvas or a lightweight wool-blend.
